Some of the Finest Historical Places in India

India has a great history to it, and to remind people of that, there are a lot of monuments which are still intact reminding us of the golden days of India.

With varied historical monuments, the country has a such a rich history, because of the different rulers and cultures it got to experience before Independence, for some at least this is the reason- the mughal architecture, the artistic monuments erected at the time of the British era, and some which pre-date.

Starting with the Taj Mahal: Situated on the banks of Yamuna, Taj is the world's most beautiful tomb, created by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jehan in memory of his wife Mumtaz, This is one of the seven wonders of the world. Completely made of White marble, beautifully engraved, beautiful paintings and work, it took 22 years for its construction and some 20000 workers to complete it.

Humpi: Once the capital of Vijaynagar (one of the greatest Hindu empires in India's History ), this is now a laid-back village.

This place has extremely captivating ruins, which intrigue the visitors. The ruins are as old as 14th century. There are more than 500 monuments in the area. Once you are in this place, the energy which flows here, charges you up and it is incredible to feel, it leaves you thrilled.

Khujraho is the place you must visit to discover the city which has as many as 20 temples all defining sexuality. A proof that Kamasutra has its origins in India, this place is full of erotic. It’s not just this but a felicitation of love, sex and also worship at the same time. Situated in Madhya Pradesh of India, this city was constructed in 10th or 11th century.

Ajnta and Ellora Caves: Very beautifully carved paintings on caves of Ajanta and Ellora, are a marvelous piece of art and history in India. With 34 caves which were painted between the 6th and 11th centuries AD. and there are 29 caves at Ellora, all beautifully architecture between 2nd century and 6th century AD. The caves at Ajanta are famous for their rich paintings and sculpture, whereas the caves at Ellora are famous for their remarkable architecture.

A thing to be remembered while one see these paintings is that they were all created by the use of a hammer and chisel, which makes the artwork even more appreciable.

Fatehpur Sikri: it is this city which once enjoyed the status of being the capital of Mughal Empire in the 16th century. Though this city was abandoned by its occupants just 15 years after its construction, because of the insufficiency of water. A visit to this place is so captivating that one travels to the medieval times with it. It is awe preserved town today and is a must visit for anyone who wants to feel close to the Mughal era.
